Transnet is South Africa’s leading transport and delivery company. It provides logistic, delivery and transport services to a variety of industries throughout South Africa. They have 5 core operations and these are Port Terminals, Pipelines, Rail Engineering, Ports Authorities and Freight Rail. Transnet also has 3 specialized units namely their Capital projects, Property and the Transnet Foundation.
They provide learnerships, bursaries and more yearly to gifted young South Africans. With this Transnet is doing their part in reducing joblessness and poverty, while strengthening the economy.
What Does the TransnetLearnership Program Offer?
The Transnet learnership program runs over a three year period. Transnet offers successful candidates training, training support, mentorship and supervision for the duration of their learnership. All successful candidates will receive both practical and theoretical preparation.
Costs Covered by Learnership
Each learnership will include a monthly stipend. Yet, selected candidates will be required to have their own accommodation and transport. Therefore, it is suggested that each candidate apply within their area. Details of their offer to successful candidates will be discussed in detail after the selection process has been completed.
The training support includes the following:
- Business management training
- Accompanying courses
- Exam procedure development
- Leave for study time (for examinations)
- Revision assistance
All these are in aid to ensure success for each selected candidate. Candidates will receive mentorship from qualified and dedicated personnel. Day-to-day training on all aspects and duties they will be facing within the work environment.
For a successful application process, candidates must ensure they provide all required documentation and fulfill the requirements.
Only South African citizens will be considered and all applicants must have the following:
- A valid ID document
- A valid Matric or Grade 10 certification
- A CTA (certificate in theory of accounting) or in their final year of CTA studies
- Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Must be goal orientated and show integrity
- Must be reliable and supportive
- Must be pro-active and assertive
- Must be computer cultured
Candidates studying towards or in their final year of BCompt Honors may also apply. Candidates receiving training with another program will not be considered. Thus, only applicants who are applying for the first time to such a learnership may apply. Candidates may be required to sign an employment contract, this will be discussed once candidates are selected.

Timeframe That Learnership is Open
Closing date for applications are yearly on the last day of August. Please register on their site ahead of time and ensure you complete the application in full. Candidates must make sure that they have their completed application with all relevant documentation in on time.
