Selected candidates must be willing to sign an employment agreement equal to one years’ service for every year of study funded by the Department.

Bursaries provided by ABSA bank will cover the full tuition fees for selected candidates. These will be paid directly to the Institute of Higher Learning and will be renewed yearly based on the academic achievements of each candidate.

Requirements

Applicants must be a citizen of South Africa and can either be studying towards one of the mentioned fields or have graduated Matric successfully to qualify.

The following criteria will also have to be met:

  • Must hold a valid ID document
  • Must hold a valid Matric
  • Must be prepared to study full time
  • Must have received an 80% academic achievement in their June examination
  • Must not have a criminal record

Post or Undergraduate studies:

  • Must hold a valid ID document
  • Must hold a valid Matric
  • Must be registered at an Institute of Higher Learning
  • Must be studying towards one of the available fields
  • Must not have a criminal record
  • Must hold a 70% minimum academic result

All applicants must not have received any form of funding or another bursary to qualify. All shortlisted candidates will be contacted and may be asked to attend an interview.

How to Apply for This Bursary

Applications for ABSA bursaries can be done online via ABSA’s Website. Candidates can find more information on their Careers Page under the Bursary Tab. Under the Bursary Tab candidates will find two selections, the ABSA Bursary Program and the BMI Bursary Program. Here specific bursaries will be posted once they are open.

Applicants must meet all requirements as stipulated by the bursary information before applying. Applicants in their final year must submit their latest results before the end of January the following year to be eligible. Selected candidates may also be asked to complete training projects or partake in additional skills development activities.

Candidates will be selected in accordance to the companies need and with their employment equity approach. Studies must be completed within the agreed term and per course duration set by the Institute of Higher Learning. Each year funding will be awarded after re-evaluation of the years academic achievements.

Timeframe That Bursary is Open

ABSA bursary applications opens on the 15th of April yearly and closes the 31st of July the same year. All applications must be in before the closing date, as no late applications will be considered. Applications missing documentation, or that are not fully completed will also not be considered. 

Absa will also require successful candidates to sign an employment agreement. This agreement will commence upon completion of each candidates studies and will be for the same duration as the bursary.

What Does the Spoornet-Transnet Bursary Program Offer?

  • Accommodation fees
  • Meal fees

Requirements

All applicants must be South African citizens in order to apply. There will be as regulations that will also have to be met to be eligible for a bursary, these will be set out by the company.

Candidates must also adhere to the basic requirements as follow: 

  • Applicants must have a valid ID document
  • Applicants must have a valid Matric / Grade 12 certification
  • Applicants must be registered or meet all requirements of the Institute of Higher Learning to study there

Bursaries are renewable yearly and the continuation of funding for study will depend on each candidates academic results each year.

Once applications close the screening process will commence. Candidates will be selected on their academic performances and invited to partake in an interview. The interviews will be held at their offices in Durban, Bloemfontein, Johannesburg and Cape Town. Once the interviews have been concluded the final selection process will take place. Requirements

Candidates must be South African citizens to apply. Studie Trust seeks gifted individuals to be awarded bursaries to complete their studies and become a part of the skilled workforce within South Africa. Candidates wanting to apply for a bursary through Studie Trust can do so online. Applicants are invited to start their application process with the start of May each year. The application can be found online via the Study Trust Website. Candidates must ensure they have all relevant documentation at hand when applying.

Applicants will be required to logon to their site, thus, will need to create a username and password. Candidates will be asked to supply their ID number and cellphone number to do this. Once you start the application there is no need for rushing as you can save your progress and return to complete the form at a later time. However, once the application has been submitted, you can no longer make any changes.

Timeframe That Bursary is Open

Studie Trust opens yearly for applications and candidates can logon for May to September to complete their applications online. Candidates will be informed if their application is selected. These candidates will receive conformation by the end of December of the year of application.

Candidates must please ensure contact details are correct and current. Candidates are also asked to not complete more than one application and remember to also include a motivational letter.

SA Military Bursary Program 2016-2017

The SA Military is a division of the Department of Defense. There is a variety of fields interested candidates can select from and different programs offered for further study, training and more.   • Candidates must hold a valid Grade 12 / Matric certification
  • Candidates must be prepared to relocate
  • Candidates must be willing to travel
  • Candidates must hold no criminal record

Depending on the field and division of interest, candidates will find applications online with different departments of the SA Military. ISASA Bursary Program 2016-2017

What Does the Bursary Program Offer?

There is not a wide variety of fields to select from with ISASA and their bursary program is aimed at candidates who would love to become teachers.

The available fields are as follow:

In addition to studying and completing their B.Ed or PGCE, candidates will also be given the occasion to be trained by ISASA schools. They will have access to all learning and teaching resources.

Costs Covered by Bursary

Bursaries awarded by ISASA will cover the selected candidate’s full tuition and all prescribed learning material for Unisa. Candidates will have the opportunity to also be tutored by some of the top teachers in each field.

Requirements

Applicants must be South African citizens to be eligible for the bursary program provided by ISASA. There are also other requirements each candidate must adhere to before applying. All documentation must be certified!

The requirements are as follow:

  • ID documentation of applicant
  • Matric or Grade 12 Certificate or Mid-year results with exemption and B pass
  • Exemption in English and Mathematics or Science
  • University candidates must have a Senior Certificate
  • Must have English as a Major and Science or Mathematics
  • Tertiary candidates must have English and Mathematics or Science with credits

To be eligible for a bursary applicants must submit the completed application with all certified documentation. Applications missing any documentation or is not completed in full will not be considered. Applicants must also attach an introduction or statement letter to their application. This letter must not only give me detail of the person applying, but also provide information on what they can offer if selected for the bursary. Thus, explain why you should be selected, what makes you unique and different.

HCI Foundation Bursary program 2016-2017

The HCI Foundation aims to make an impact on the future of South Africa and assist in the skills shortage, while also building self-sustaining communities. They are a BBE Investment company with shares in the clothing and textile Union of Southern Africa.

They invite talented young individuals who want to make a change and become part of the skilled workforce to apply for a bursary from them. Together they believe a better future is at hand!

What Does the Bursary Program Offer?

The HCI Foundation Bursary Program does not have any specified fields of study. They assist candidates in any field studying at University, FET colleges or the University of Technology.

Costs Covered by Bursary

Bursaries provided by the HCI Foundation is only partial as they only provide candidates with financial assistance. These usually cover between 67 and 75 percent of the candidate’s tuition fee. These are between R23000 and R25000 and differs with the need of each candidate, as well as their household income.

The HCI Foundation will not provide funds for repeat studies and candidates are not obliged to repay funding unless specified due to special circumstances. Yet, they do ask the candidates to give something back by assisting in one of their community projects.

Requirements

Candidate applying must be a citizen of South Africa. There is also a variety of other requirements that each candidate will have to meet before applying. Each field may have additional stipulations, thus, candidates must ensure they know what these are and meet all of them.

Some of the basic requirements are as follow:

  • Must hold a valid ID document
  • Must be younger than 35 years of age
  • Must hold a valid Matric or Grade 12 certificate
  • Must submit proof of income of household, or affidavit if parents or guardian is unemployed

Applications that do not contain all documentation, is not fully completed or missing anything, will not be considered. Candidates one the shortlist will be contacted, thus, if you do not hear from the company, your application was not selected. You will receive constant updates on the progress of your application via email, text or other form of communication.

Candidates on the shortlist may be required to do a phone interview. All payment will be directly made to the Institute of Higher Learning and not to the candidate.

Interested individuals may apply online via the HCI Foundation Website. This application must be completed online, it is thus suggested that candidates ensure they have all relevant documentation at hand and have enough time to complete the application when they want to apply. You will be required to open a free account with the company and must therefore, have a username and password to login.

The application will have four sections for you to complete. Personal detail, family detail, details of study course and parents or guardians employment details.

If you do find there is some reason you truly have to stop and return at a later date, you will be able to do so. The program will have a stop, save and start function, however, it is recommended and preferred that candidates fully complete the form in one sitting.

This Department aims to improve the health and lives of the people of South Africa. The NSFAS bursary program offers candidates from all areas of the country the opportunity to further their study. They have a wide field of study available for candidates to select from.

These include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Education – Foundation Phase
  • Education – Intermediate Phase
  • Education – Training Phase
  • Education – Senior Phase
  • Social work
  • Marketing
  • Communications
  • Event Planning and Management

Most fields made available will be within the scarce skills fields as set out by Government.

Costs Covered by the Bursary

NSFAS bursaries will cover most or all of the following costs depending on the candidates needs. A Means Test will be conducted to asses this need. Most bursaries will cover costs up to R60 000 fluctuation according to need.

Study related fees that are included are as follow:

  • Tuition fees
  • Study material or book fees as prescribed
  • Accommodation fees
  • Traveling feed
  • Meal fees

Successful candidates are not required to pay back any fees received towards their education.

Requirements for NSFAS Bursary

Each applicant will need to adhere to the basic requirements and also any requirements as set out by the company in accordance to the field of study or Institute of learning.

Most candidates will be required to have the following:

  • Candidates must be a South African citizen
  • Candidates must have a valid Matric
  • Candidates must have a valid ID document
  • Candidates must have a proof of acceptance from the institute of higher learning where apply to
  • Candidates must provide proof of income for either parents, guardians or proof of deceased where applicable
  • Candidates must provide ID documentation for parents or guardians
  • Candidates must be capable within the English language

Candidates that apply must complete all fields of the application form and also meet all additional requirements if any, as set out by the bursary. Candidates who submit incomplete applications or are missing documentation will not be considered.

How to Apply for a NSFAS Bursary

Interested candidates can apply online via the NSFAS website or download the application and forward it to them by email. Candidates must please read all the instructions provided with care and follow them correctly. Only some Universities and TVET Colleges are made available for candidates to study at. This list can also be found on the same page as above.

PLEASE make sure all documentation has the applicants ID number clearly visible in the top right hand corner. All information provided must be true and accurate. Read all questions and make sure you understand them before completing the application.

For online applications it is recommended that candidates use Internet Explorer 8 / 9. Candidates that apply online will receive a conformation SMS once the application has successfully been submitted. On their site candidates will find a check list of all the documentation required. Please ensure you have all the mentioned documentation at hand when applying.

Applications without supporting documentation cannot be considered. The application form along with required documentation will be evaluated in order to qualify candidates. Candidates who find it difficult to attach documentation to their application may send it via email to apply@nsfas.org.za.

Timeframe That NSFAS Bursary is Open

Applications for bursaries by NSFAS open yearly on the 17th of August and closes on the 30th of November. However, applications for UNISA closes on the 30th of September already. Interested candidates must, therefore, ensure that their applications with all required documentation reach the company before these dates.

There is a great amount of applications received yearly and they can unfortunately only provide funding for a limited amount. Thus, candidates are advised to also apply for alternate funding. Only those candidates that make the short list will be contacted. If you have not heard from them for a period of 2 to 3 months once applications close, please accept your application as being unsuccessful.
