It is South Africa based industry is known to be one of the largest technological development and research centers. It also values capital projects and skills development. They have operations in 37 countries and offer talented candidates a great learning opportunity each year, assisting in the development of a skill based workforce.

What Does the Sasol Learnership Program Offer?

Sasol offers a variety of learnership fields and each of these could lead to successful careers for successful candidates. Many of their learnership awardees have moved on to greener fields entering the workforce as managers, artisans, technicians or even engineers.

Costs Covered by Learnership

This learnership program not only give selected candidates the opportunity to reach their life goals and become skilled in a profession they love, but, it also gives them a chance to make a difference and have a brighter future. All benefits will be discussed with selected candidates once they have been selected. All learning material will be supplied by the company, as well as a monthly allowance. The company does not provide meals, accommodation or transport. Therefore, it is suggested that candidates apply to open learnerships within their region.


Candidates who wish to partake in this learnership opportunity will have to meet all requirements as set by Sasol. These are the basic requirements for all candidates, there may be more, but it will depend on your field of interest.

Basic requirements:

  • All candidates must hold a valid Matric / Grade 12 certification
  • All candidates must have passed Matric with Mathematics on SG/HG (NOT Maths Literacy, Applied, Commercial, Additional or Functional)
  • All candidates must have passed Matric with English
  • All candidates must have passed Matric with Physical Science on SG/HG (NOT Science Literacy, General, Nature, Functional or Life Science)


  • Candidates with an N3 Certificate with 5 subjects (Business English, Eng. Science, Mathematics and 2 additional subjects)

All candidates must have exceptional English skills and great communication skills. Candidates with disability are encouraged to apply as well. Some of their learnerhsip opportunities may also require a driver’s licence.

The learnership contract is legal and binding, and will run over a 12 to 24 months period depending on the field of study. Selected applicants may be required to complete a medical fitness evaluation and a psychomotor evaluation.

Late applications, photocopied applications, or applications missing documentation, or detail will not be taken into consideration.

Timeframe That Learnership is Open

There are currently no deadlines for applications, however, they usually open the beginning of each year and candidates are invited to submit their applications.
