SA Military Bursary Program 2016-2017

The SA Military is a division of the Department of Defense. There is a variety of fields interested candidates can select from and different programs offered for further study, training and more. This division is dedicated to assisting in stabilizing the economy of SA and also provide people with the skills and knowledge to become independent and self-sustainable. The SA Military bursary program is for talented individuals who what to make a difference.

What Does the SA Military Bursary Program Offer?

There is a variety of fields made available for candidates to consider every year. These will depend on the need within the military. These fields available will vary from technical to academic, and is usually for a National Diploma or a Bachelor’s Degree.

Interested candidates can look at the following fields and more as they come available:

  • Engineering
  • Fire Fighting
  • Command
  • Support
  • Materials
  • Medical
  • Science

Costs Covered by Bursary

Costs covered by a bursary from the SA Military will cover expenses as set out by the Military. These will be discussed with successful candidates and stipulated in their bursary agreement.

Requirements

Applicants must be a citizen of South Africa and above the age of 18 and under 22 years of age. Depending of the field and division there may be a variety of requirements. Here with are the basic ones, yet, there may be more and will be stipulated as each program becomes available.

Basic Requirements:

  • Candidates must hold a valid SA ID document
  • Candidates must hold a valid Grade 12 / Matric certification
  • Candidates must be prepared to relocate
  • Candidates must be willing to travel
  • Candidates must hold no criminal record
  • Candidates must be in need of financial aid

How to Apply for This Bursary

Depending on the field and division of interest, candidates will find applications online with different departments of the SA Military. Once applications open and fields are made available candidates can download the Application Form, complete it and send to the selected department with all required certified documentation. Postage or hand delivery addresses will be provided in all advertisements and online on the division’s webpage. All new program openings will be advertised, yet, candidates can also regularly check back on their Careers Page

Successful candidates may also be required to complete a psychometric test and medical examination. If you do not meet all stipulations, please do not apply. Any applications received incomplete, late or without documentation will be discarded.

Timeframe That Bursary is Open

Application timeframe will differ with each field and division. Thus it is advisable for candidates to keep an eye out for advertisements and open programs on their website. Once applications open, candidates are welcome to apply. Successful candidates will be contacted by the department if selected. If you do not hear from them three months after applications have closed, please take it that your application has been unsuccessful.
