Eskom offers a variety of learnerships yearly to gifted individuals. Partaking in a learnership is a powerful tool in preparing for the workforce. Eskom is dedicated to reducing the unemployment numbers and aiding individuals to become self-sustaining by gaining practical experience. Thus, being able to secure great employment.
What Does the Eskom Learnership Program Offer?
If you are planning to work in to one of the following directions, a learnership may just be the footing you need to find the right job for you. Being prepared not only with knowledge, but with hands-on experience can make a big difference.

Costs Covered by Learnership
Details of each learnership will be discussed with the selected individuals. Candidates will, however, have to provide their own accommodation, transport and meals. All training material will be provided by the company. Learnership terms will also vary as needed for each career field and may run over a period of 12 months to 4 years.
All candidates who wish to apply must be a citizen of South Africa and hold a valid ID document. Each learnership will require a set of basic stipulations that must be met by all candidates, and some may have additional stipulations depending on the career path.
Basic regulations include the following:
- Candidates must possess a valid Grade 12 / Matric certificate or N3 with level 4 Engineering subjects
- Candidates must hold a level 3 /E symbol or higher for English
- Candidates must hold a level 3 /E symbol or higher for Science
- Candidates must hold a level 3 /E symbol or higher for Mathematics
- Candidates must be highly motivated and eager to work
- Candidates must be loyal, committed and responsible
- Candidates must have a solid understanding of technical notions
- Candidates must be able to perform as part of a team and individually
Background checks will be performed on all selected candidates. Candidates who make the short list may be asked to attend an interview and partake in a medical fitness examination. Only short listed candidates will be contacted. Therefore, if you have not had a reply within a month after the closing date, please accept that your application was not selected.
How to Apply for the Eskom Learnership
Online applications can only be done once their learnership applications open. Candidates can find more information on their Student Projects and their Inservice Training or Learnerships by visiting their site. Candidates are required to create a profile online with Eskom and log in before they can do the application.
Open learnerships will be advertised on their Recruitment Page. Candidates can do a search for open learnerships and then apply. All applicants must ensure they attach all documentation, complete the form in full and sign it. Any application missing anything will be discarded.
Timeframe That Learnership is Open
Each of the learnerships provided by Eskom has their own closing dates, thus, one date cannot be given. But by visiting the link provided on a regular basis, candidates can ensure they apply as soon as one becomes available within their field of interest.
