Department of Correctional Services (DCS) Bursary Program 2016-2017

This Government Department has a wide variety of bursaries it awards on a yearly basis to selected candidates. These are usually in line with their needs, thus they seek talented individuals who want to study further and have a career within the Correctional Services industry. Each bursary has requirements to be met and only a limited amount of available openings.

What Does the DCS Bursary Program Offer?

This Government Department has a wide variety of fields available for candidates to consider each year. However, these will be selected depending on the need within this Department.

Costs Covered by Bursary

Bursaries provided to selected candidates will cover most of their study requirements up to R12000 per year.

This amount includes the following:

  • Tuition
  • Registration
  • Meals
  • Accommodation
  • Prescribed study material

Requirements

To be eligible candidates must be a South African citizen and comply with all requirements as set out.

Interested candidates will also require the following:

  • A valid ID document
  • A valid Matric certification
  • Proof of application and acceptance at an Institute of Higher Learning
  • Course prospectus of curriculum to be followed

Selected candidates must be willing to sign an employment agreement equal to one years’ service for every year of study funded by the Department.

Applications must be completed in full and all contact detail must be up-to-date. Applications can also be collected at the different branches of the Department and must also be returned to each department.

All certified copies of documentation must also be current, no older than 3 months. Applications that are incomplete, missing documentation, emailed, or faxed will not be looked at.

Timeframe That Bursary is Open

Deadlines for applications are the middle of July yearly. Interested candidates must ensure their application, along with all certified documentation reach the department before this date to be considered.
