What Does the Standard Bank Learnership Program Offer?

Selected candidates will sign a 12 month learnership contract and during this time they will receive practical, as well as theoretical training. This training will be focused on their field.

Transnet is South Africa’s leading transport and delivery company. It provides logistic, delivery and transport services to a variety of industries throughout South Africa. What Does the TransnetLearnership Program Offer?

The Transnet learnership program runs over a three year period. Transnet offers successful candidates training, training support, mentorship and supervision for the duration of their learnership. All successful candidates will receive both practical and theoretical preparation.

Costs Covered by Learnership

Each learnership will include a monthly stipend. Yet, selected candidates will be required to have their own accommodation and transport. Requirements

Applicants will also be required to hold a NCV level 3, or N2 with four subjects as required for their trade with a minimum of 40% pass for English and Mathematics. Candidates with Physical Science on a 40% or higher pass will be seen as an added benefit.

Correctional Services Learnership Program 2016-2017

This Government Department aims at providing gifted candidates the opportunity to learn about correctional services, and become part of the workforce of South Africa. They award learnerships to selected candidates every year. With this program they are reducing poverty and stabilizing the economy of the country.

What Does the Correctional Services Learnership Program Offer?

This program will run its course over a 12 month period and once completed successfully, candidates will receive a NQF Level 4 certificate for correctional services. During the 12 months candidates will receive practical and theoretical training.

Each candidate will learn about the rehabilitation of the prisoners, providing safety and security to prisoners and fire-arm training. Candidates will also learn about self-defense and more.

Costs Covered by Learnership

Selected candidates will also have to sign a learnership contract agreement for the duration of their learnership, and no permanent placement is assured.

During the 12 month period, candidates will be receiving a uniform, meals, accommodation and all training material for the first part of their learnership, the theory part. During the workplace training, candidates will however, need to have their own transport, accommodation and meals. They will be receiving a monthly stipend during their learnership year.

Costs Covered by Learnership

Candidates will be receiving a monthly allowance. Harmony Gold does not provide meals, transportation or accommodation. They will provide all required learning material. Any other perks will be discussed with selected candidates.

Requirements

You can apply if you are a South African citizen with a valid ID document and you meet all the requirements as set out by Harmony Gold. Depending on the career path candidates are taking, there may be some similar and different requirements. There are however, a couple of basic requirements that pertain to all their learnerships.

Here are the basic requirements candidates will need:

  • Must have a valid Grade 12 / Matric certificate
  • Must have a diploma or degree within selected field
  • Must be proficient in English
  • Must pass a medical fitness examination
  • Must possess own means of transportation
  • Must be able to communicate on all levels of operations
  • Must comply with working procedures
  • Must be willing to work overtime, stand-by and weekends if required

Some candidates may be offered a permanent position upon completion of their learnership, this is, however, not guaranteed.

How to Apply for This Learnership

Online applications are only available once their learnership program opens. For more information on Harmony Gold and their Opportunities, candidates can have a look at their Career Options. Candidates must register on their site and brows their Career Vacancies for available learnerships. On the right hand side of this page, there is six tabs, the third one is Career Level, and under this drop down tab candidates will find their learnership program. Simply click on it to be directed to the correct page.

Once the page opens, candidates will be able to see all available fields. Click on the See Details Tab in red to learn more and apply.

Candidates should register on their site and upload their CV to be considered for any openings of their learnership/internship program. Only candidates who make the short list will be contacted, thus, if you did not receive a response within a month after the closing date, please accept that your application was not selected.

Selected candidates will be required to pass a fitness examination. Candidates are also required to sign a learnership agreement with the company for the term of their learnership. A learnership does not guarantee full-time employment, but candidates will be considered if openings within their operations should arise.

Timeframe That Learnership is Open

There are no set dates for opening or closing of applications. Applications for learnership becomes available depending on the need within the company. Therefore, they will be advertised and will commence on different dates yearly.
