Old Mutual – Accounting & Actuarial Sciences Bursaries

Old Mutual is a major financial institution in South Africa. They offer a myriad of financial instruments ranging from personal finance to corporate financial solutions. Old mutual remains a household name to many South Africans and the quality service they provide to individuals and business will keep them at the forefront of SA business for a long time.

Obtaining a bursary from Old Mutual is not easy, as the company only want the best matriculants. They also only offer bursaries in Accounting and Actuarial Sciences to cater for their own business development needs.

Admission Criteria

Accounting

For acceptance the student needs to achieve at least 70% for all matric subjects. Due to the heavy reliance on mathematics, the student has to take and achieve the minimum requirement in Mathematics and not Math Literacy.

Actuarial Sciences

Actuaries are highly skilled individuals hence their admission requirements are extremely high. Only A level students are considered with at least an A+ for mathematics.

How the bursary works

Accounting

The student is required to mail the application form, ID document and academic results to Old Mutual before the 15th of July. A handwritten biography and essay is also required and should be mailed with the application mail.

Upon completion of your studies you will be required to join the Old Mutual Chartered Accountant Training Program and work back a specified amount of time at Old Mutual.

Actuarial Sciences

The student is required to mail the application form, ID document and academic results to Old Mutual before the 30th of July. A handwritten biography and essay is also required and should be mailed with the application mail.

Upon completion you will receive employment from Old Mutual which includes working with industry leaders and having world class mentoring.

What the bursary covers

Please note that Old Mutual will only offer the bursary for students that will study at the University of Cape Town or the University of Stellenbosch
